8 Reasons Why P&O Are The Best British Cruise Line
January 2, 2017
P&O are frequently voted Britain’s favourite cruise line and we wanted to find out why!
What is it about them that attracts so many loyal customers and an ever swelling fan base? These days even Ant & Dec have sailed on Britannia and the majority of reviews left on our site are for P&O ships.
So what exactly makes them so special?
Read on to find out what we think makes P&O the best British cruise line out there…
You Can Dine With Celebrity Chefs
P&O are known for their food heroes who champion the cuisine served on-board. The celebrity chefs such as James Martin, Eric Lanlard and Marco Pierre White have all developed menus and restaurants on-board and ten different famous chefs can be seen on select sailings to give cooking demonstrations. Marco Pierre White’s Ocean Grill is also available on Britannia, Arcadia and Oriana and serves up fine morsels, including steak and lobster. Sounds delicious to us!
The Entertainment Is Strictly Dazzling!
As well as recently partnering up with Strictly Come Dancing to provide guests with live dance competitions at sea, P&O offer a wide range of night time entertainment and shows. You can catch a movie in the show lounge or watch the Headliners Theatre Company perform one of their latest shows. Britannia’s theatre also has LED screens to transform the stage into a vast array of scenes and make the shows even more spectacular. On Azura there is even a SeaScreen cinema outside where you can lay back and watch the latest films on deck!
Kids Are Always Cared For
Have you ever gone on holiday with your kids and been with the lack of activities for them to get involved in? You’ll never have this problem on P&O!
The Reef kids club caters for children aged 2 to 17 and gives them the chance to enjoy fun at sea whatever their age. With four different clubs for different age ranges, whether your child wants to watch puppet shows or get involved in a sports challenge, they can!
There’s even access to bottle warmers and sterilisers, travel cots, push chairs and baby baths on-board. How often do you see that at sea ‘ey?
The Gratuities Are Low
Gratuities have always been something that divides cruisers! But you’ll be happy to hear that P&O offer one of the lowest gratuities costs around at just £5 per person, per day. It’s definitely great value for money and as on any cruise, if you want to take your grats off – you can!
Plenty Of Places To Relax
Sometimes even being on the holiday of a lifetime can be stressful! But never fear because P&O have the amazing Oasis spa and salon. Head here to experience a full body massage, take a dip in the sauna or treat yourself with a facial. If you don’t find the spa appealing, why not simply take a dip in one of the many pools, cocktail in hand? We know we’d rather be doing that right now!
7 Ships To Sail On
It’s always great to have a good choice of what kind of ship you sail on, right? With P&O you can! Whether you want a large mega ship like Britannia or a smaller ship like Arcadia, a family friendly ship like the Ventura or an adult (dash here?) only ship like the Oriana… P&O have you covered!
No Fly Cruises From The UK
All of you nervous flyers out there will be delighted to know about the wide range of no-fly cruises P&O offer! You can sail direct from Southampton to your destination and you won’t have to worry about flight transfers, long flights or waiting around at the airport. Just turn up to your dock and your holiday begins! You can learn more about this here.
Home Comforts At Your Fingertips
Finally, one thing that makes Brits love P&O so much is simply… the kettles! Yes, you heard that right, P&O ships come equipped with kettles in your room so you can serve yourself a cuppa after a long day of excursions. You’ll also be able to enjoy a full English breakfast and many other little touches that make P&O so quintessentially British so that even whilst on holiday, you’ll feel at home!
