I’m on the Maiden, no your not

Hey Cruisers

Hope you are all very well and making the most of this glorious weather we have in the UK at the moment, I know I am !!

So all seems very busy still and cruises are being booked and ships are continuing to be built, and it is on this subject that I would like to talk about. There seems to be so much pressure put on shipyards these days to have the ships ready for their maiden cruise, of course the cruise lines have started selling the cabins before the ship has even been built and it is real important that the ship is ready for these paying customers. We are all excited at being able to tell our friends and family “we are on the first ever cruise” now here is the issue, with pressure being put on the shipyards to have the ships ready, they sometimes manage to actually have it built before the deadline and thus causing a number of problems going forward. So what do the cruise lines do when this happens? they decide to suddenly announce that there will be a “Pre Maiden Cruise” yep that’s right folks, they add a cruise in before the maiden cruise and thus upset thousands of people who booked years in advance for the chance to be the first customers on the ship.

This issue may actually come up quite soon, as I have heard a rumour that Harmony Of The Seas” Royal Caribbeans brand new ship is ahead of build schedule and there is talk of adding an extra cruise before it’s maiden.

And again I will be taking calls from angry passengers that were expecting to be on her for her maiden voyage, now it is only a rumour of course but Royal Caribbean do make a habit of doing this and have done in the past.

I would not be surprised Royal Caribbean make an announcement that there will be a 2 night weekend cruise from Southampton before it heads over to Barcelona for its summer season.

So that maiden cruise you thought you booked may not be quite what it seemed.

Be aware.
