For seats sake

Greetings cruisers

I know eh, It’s already been 2 weeks since I last posted, and it must feel like a lifetime for you all waiting for this next post !!!

Anyways things are still crazy as ever, cruises are still being booked and it’s keeping me in a job, which I certainly appreciate. So once again I’m back to airlines, I just seem to be pulling my hair out with them more and more. I completely understand to keep their costs down they choose to cut corners and just annoy us for doing this.

Now what I am about to talk about does not necessarily cover all airlines and is directed at mostly long haul routes but it seems most are coming around and following the majority.

And my point is

Paying to choose your seat.

I think it is really unfair to expect a family of 4 with 2 young children to have to not only pay for the flight but if they all want to sit together pay an additional cost. These extra costs can certainly add quite a large amount onto the already high cost of the flight, now not all airlines charge extra to choose your seat and I know Etihad and Qatar do not charge, there are a few others too but can’t think off the top of my head.

However there a few things to be aware of, firstly each seat on a flight has a code, now this code is determined by the price the airline want to charge for the seat, you will normally find that if you normally book through a search engine, for example Sky Scanners etc, these sights will always search for the lowest price, normally these deals get you the seat on the flight but other than that they can be very restricted, a top tip for you, once you have found a price online, check direct with the airline at their website, because you will find they will clearly offer you 3 or 4 different options, based on the same seat, all with slightly different prices.

So what you would need to do is find out how much it would be to choose a seat with each airline first and then add that cost onto the price of the flight you have been quoted from the price comparison site, then head back to the airlines website and find the price of that includes choosing seats etc, this will always be higher than the lowest fare the airline will offer you but may work out cheaper than the price you have found using the price comparison sight that does not offer you any movement with regards to managing the flight.

You may well find out you can save a few quid, it is certainly worth doing the extra work.

I have no idea if any of what I said has made sense, but in my head it has !!!!!!!!

So remember also to find out if the airline you have found does let you choose your seat with no extra charge, and if so ignore everything I have wrote above !!!

Anyways cruisers, until the next time, keep on cruising:)
