Leading on from my last blog, I said i would talk about tendering.
When the ship cannot moor at the dock she will drop anchor and you will tender to the port.
The ship knows it is a nightmare transporting between 2000-4000 people to the shore so they do this in the fairest way possible by issuing tender tickets on the morning before the ship docks.
Now, as i was in Santorini on Splendour of the Seas there is a cable car which takes passengers up the mountain side. This holds 36 people at one time. So you work out the maths. There was a 3 hour queue to use the cable car.
You can always walk up the trail dodging the local transport taking about 45 minuites, or take a lift on the local transport a DONKEY! oh yes.
So my advice is if you want to get off the ship early then wake up early and grab a tender ticket otherwise you may only get half your day at the port!!!
