My Itinerary has changed!

This has happened quite a bit recently.  What you have to remember is that cruise itineraries are planned a year and a half in advance.  Quite often if you look in a brochure, the itineraries have already changed.  However over the past few weeks Itineraries have changed once people are on board!

Celebrity were meant to overnight in Istanbul in August and changed the Constellation Itinerary so to not have an overnight about 3 days before the sailing finished! Why did they, well we are not certain however due to the unrest in that part of the world could have been a factor.  You see, cruise lines will change itineraries if the safety of their guests is compromised.

Quantum of the Seas is in Asia at the moment and her itinerary changed mid cruise and passengers refused to dis embark at the end of the cruise.  The ship was meant to visit three Japanese ports but there was a Typhoon warning so the ship diverted to South Korean ports instead.  The safety of the passengers was a factor, but some passengers did not like the itinerary change and asked for compensation.  There is nothing you can do if this happens, ask yourself what would you prefer, a safe journey and the ship not being battered by high winds OR everybody feeling sick for 4 days and the ship rocking from side to side and possibly not being able to dock in the Japanese ports?  I know what i would like.

So If your itinerary changes when you are on board, ask yourself there has to be a reason for this and get as much information you can before you demand compensation which is what the passengers did on Quantum.
