How much for fuel?

Ok this is an interesting one.  If you book a cruise sailing in 2011 or 2012 and there is a fuel surcharge on the booking, how does the cruise line know how much to charge?

With the fluctuating price of oil and the goings on in the country’s who are ‘oil rich’ how do they know how much a barrel of oil will be in 2011/12?

This is a question a client of mine has asked me.  I have asked this exact same question to people ‘in the know’ who work for the likes of Cunard, P&O and Princess but with no real answer.  Is it a cover up so the cruise lines can charge more? Have the cruise lines got a stock pile of fuel?  Are they right in doing this?

All these unanswered questions.  If the cruise lines can give answers then maybe people will stop being skeptical.

My client has contacted the Which consumer group to see if they can get any answers.  If you have any answers or are in the know, then please let me know.
