Ryan Air Cause Chaos !

I really think it is disgraceful how the budget airline carrier Ryanair have cancelled thousands of flights over the next few months, leaving poor paying passengers high and dry and in total despair. They have actually cancelled a further 18,000 flights affecting up to 400,000 passengers. All due to due to a “mess up” in pilot holiday rotas.

Ryanair announced earlier this week that it would scrap 18,000 flights on 34 routes between November 2017 and March 2018. The statement came a week after a first wave of cancellations was announced, how many more I really could not say at this moment in time.

From November 2017, Ryanair have suspended flights from Stansted to Edinburgh and Glasgow and Gatwick to Belfast.

In return they are offering a measly €40 voucher to passengers that can’t book the flights they need.

With this total uproar the Civil Aviation Authority has now started  legal action against Ryanair, they announced yesterday that enforcement action had been started against Ryanair for “persistently misleading passengers with inaccurate information regarding their rights in respect of its recent cancellations”.

The Civil Aviation Authority revealed that they had wrote to Ryanair earlier this month, following the decision to cancel many thousands of flights, then to clarify the airline’s legal obligations.

“We sought assurances around how and when they would re-route passengers onto alternative flights,” the CAA said.

Ryanair was told to make a corrective public statement, to ensure customers were not misled and had accurate comprehensive information relating to their rights and entitlements.

“In announcing thousands more cancellations to its scheduled programme, the airline has again failed to provide customers with the necessary and accurate information relating to their passenger rights, particularly around rerouting and care and assistance entitlements, which includes expenses,” the CAA added.

“Separately, we are continuing to investigate the airline’s rerouting policy.”

Ryanair responded, saying it had reminded its customer service agents on Wednesday “of the refund and re-accommodation entitlements of customers in cases of flight cancellations”.

Ryanair has been ordered to tell hundreds of thousands of passengers how it proposes to provide alternatives to cancelled flights.

This is been absolutely disgraceful and let’s hope  the CAA will help all those that have been affected.
