As a single traveller the majority of cruise liners will charge at least 100% supplement on a twin berth cabin for sole occupancy; this is actually double the price which in my view it is just ridiculous. It isn’t fair and it’s not acceptable and it’s about time most cruise liners understood that a lot of their guests do travel alone.

Well my good news is that Fred Olsen are doing special offers for solo travellers, eventually a cruise liner that has listened to their guests.

The deal Fred Olsen are offering is that a solo guest occupying a twin room will pay no single-supplement on bookings made from February 1, 2017 until March 1, 2017.

The cruise line is offering the deals on the following  itineraries in 2017/18 (on selected grades, subject to availability):

• Boudicca : 08/05/2017, 8 night cruise departing from Belfast ‘Lochs of Scotland’ (adult-only) – no single-supplement for a Superior Ocean View and standard Ocean View. Prices start from £1,199 per person for a standard Ocean View.

• Balmoral : 17/09/2017, 11 night cruise departing from Newcastle ‘Scandinavian Waterways & Capitals’ – no single-supplement for a Superior Ocean View and standard Ocean View. Prices start from £1,709 per person for a standard Ocean View.

• Black Watch : 14/10/2017,  16night cruise departing from Rosyth (Edinburgh ) ‘Landscapes of Portugal & the Canaries’  – no single-supplement for an Ocean View. Prices start from £2,099 per person.

• Braemar : 01/04/2017, 9 nights cruise departing from Dover ‘French River Cruising’ – no single-supplement for a Superior Ocean View and Interior cabins. Prices start from £1,449 per person for a Superior Ocean View and from £1,049 per person for an Interior cabin.
