Just For Adults!

P&O Cruises have announced this week that families will no longer be able to sail on Aurora as it has plans to become Adult Only.

There are currently 7 ships in the P&O fleet, 5 of which are family friendly – Aurora , Azura , Britannia, Oceana and Ventura and 2 Ships which are Adult only – Arcadia and Oriana.

This change has followed the recent shock to the many passengers who love Adonia. The smallest adult only ship who is leaving the Fleet to join the Azamara Brand and will be known as Azamara Pursuit.

Aurora entered service in 2000 and will begin her Adult Only sailings along with Arcadia and Oriana from 08 April 2019 once she has had her refit in March 2019.

The sad thing is, there are many families  already booked and looking forward to their sailings on Aurora for 2019 who are going to be bitterly disappointed with this news .Should P&O have waited until the launch of Winter 2019 to make these changes, when so many people have already booked? It makes you wonder why!

The move to Adult only is due to “extensive research and guest feedback” by P&O Cruises. The Senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “All our ships have the signature elements of dining, service and great destinations. However, P&O Cruises is all about choice, whether our guests want the fantastic range of activities and children’s clubs on our family-friendly ships or prefer the peace and serenity of our adult-only ships. With Aurora becoming a ship exclusively for adults, we are offering our guests even more choice which means they can choose the holiday experience that is absolutely the right one for them.”

So what happens now for those families already booked?

P&O have advised those families that have already booked, can transfer to one of the other family friendly ships or if this is not an option, a full refund will be give along with a 5% future cruise credit of the value of the original cruise booked.

Its a tale of two halves as many people will be pleased with the choice of an extra ship which is Adult Only  however,  so many families will be extremely disappointed.

What are your thoughts on this latest news?  Has your family been affected by this change?
