New Silversea ship is for them from now on .. but they were not A’MUSE’D by the new dining concept

Over my many years in travel , I have had the pleasure of booking some of the most amazing people. My customers some of which have been my most loyal for nearly 14 years are the greatest information point I can have.  They are not just customers to me they are my friends and their knowledge and expertise on things I have not experienced is worth its weight in gold.

I believe there is no greater way of learning than speaking to people that have actually experienced what I want to know.

This particular review is from very loyal clients not only to me but Silversea over many years. Mrs M Shaw, Mrs O Wood , and Mr & Mrs Evans travelled on their cruise last month.

They were travelling with Silversea on the new ship the SILVER MUSE, and after booking this last year they were looking forward to trying the new ship that Silversea was offering,  they did contact me while on board with regular emails and made it known that while they were massively impressed by the ship, they were however very disappointed with the new dining concept . The Muse does not have a main dining room where you can just walk in, they all need advance booking, and as they were travelling as a party of 4 , this proved difficult to get a table at times when they wanted , they also met people on board and that was a difficult task to attempt to eat with them as there hadn’t been advance bookings made.

The below is an honest review direct from Mrs Shaw…. Thanks again 🙂

 > We found the new ship beautiful with most changes for the best.  You know all about the dining option problems and many people said they would never come again until guaranteed it was returned to the old system.  They say this will happen but I can’t see how they can change until it goes in for a refit as the restaurants will need major alterations.

>If you book clients in the meantime I suggest you make sure they understand it is necessary to book everything in advance if possible. We are old hands, of course, and managed to talk the restaurant managers into extra bookings, but new cruisers might not have the known how to do this.

>Since the change in the dining arrangements , it seems there is no Captains welcome formal evening or any invitations to dinner from himself or senior officers.

>The dress code varies from formal to casual in various restaurants, and when guests gathered in the Panorama Lounge Bar before dining , there was a mixture of gentleman in dinner jackets/tuxedos/dark suits and ladies in glamorous gowns along with others dressed informally and even people in shorts who were booked for the cook your own on deck. We felt this detracted from the atmosphere we were used to when the whole room would be dressed up formally or casually depending on the recommended code in the daily programme. In fact on this ship, if guests prefer to dine informally or casually every night there would be no need to take formal attire.

>The dining on deck is now much improved with a more extensive menu and we really enjoyed that.

>The new Arts Cafe for all day drinks, sandwiches, cakes, chocolates etc. is attractive and has a nice outdoor seating area as well as inside.  The staff were delightful and we visited quite often.  Much better than afternoon tea served at a particular time.

>We did not try the Silver Note but my cousin did and they enjoyed this very much as the like spicy food. We did try the Indochine where they kindly did mine less spicy as I do not like food too hot and spicy.

>The suites were much the same but the balconies had lovely chairs and footstools as well as a table.

> Deck 5 which had a fairly small bar area now has a huge space, but not very cosy or welcoming as in the past.  Rather like a conference centre or exam room so Dolce Vita is not a good description!

> The theatre was better with good seats and small drinks tables and also more leg room to pass other people.

> The pool deck area lovely with the cooking area moved more out of the way so no smells of burgers etc.  However, the raised area above it, which used to do the same menu, now only does pizza and ice-cream and seemed under used.

> My cousin and his wife, who have cruised several times with Silversea on my original recommendation, were on board which was so nice as we haven’t met for some years.

> They tried Regent last year and feel Silversea is better as they thought some of Regent’s free trips weren’t very good and involved being dropped at gift shops quite often!

> Mrs Wood and I and Mr and Mrs Evans all agree that we don’t want to do any other cruise line, or indeed any other ship now we have discovered the Muse.  Once the dining  options are sorted out, it will be ideal for us.
