Nightmare Neighbour Next Door!

Cabin neighbours are a bit like dining companions – it’s a bit of luck of the draw who you are going to get!

Maybe I have always been lucky and have never had problems with either, on a ship you expect children to make some noise, and if it was the odd joyful scream or the occasional slammed door that would be fine, however a passenger told me of his recent experience with the family in the cabin next door shouting, banging loudly, slamming doors and screaming until midnight, the first child woke up early morning and the doors were constantly slamming with no thought at all to fellow neighbours

It’s a good idea to check the proximity of family cabins when you choose your cabin  and avoid those areas of the decks

I also heard of 2 ladies in a cabin asleep only to be woken by their naked neighbour climbing in to bed, all were startled to be in the situation, it turned out the cabin door didn’t lock and the naked man was sleep walking from the cabin next door with his wife and he kept a very low profile for the rest of the cruise!

I was chatting to a passenger who had just returned from a Cunard Transatlantic from New York to Southampton and had real problems with her cabin. She told me she had a cabin with a connecting door and that the noise from the TV next door was awful all day from 5am and all night. She went on to say that it was so bad that she spoke to reception to see if they could control the volume because she had hardly slept and was told that the girl in the cabin was ill and had hardly left her room. She didn’t think too much about it until they attended a lecture on board about drug smuggling, the more she thought about it the more suspicious she became – a young man and a young girl, hardly leaving their cabin and up all day and night watching TV. Alarm bells were ringing and she reported it to reception but never found out if they were genuine passengers or Drug mules!

Have you had any problems with noisy cabins and nightmare neighbours….?
