Cuba Libra!

Last year the Hot New Destination was Japan, this year the Those in the Know headed to South America and it looks like the Next Big Thing in Cruising will be Cuba!

For the first time in several decades, US tourism is returning to Cuba meaning big business for cruise lines and a new experience for passengers. Culturally and technologically speaking much of Cuba has been stuck in the 1950s since revolutions and political turmoil led to a series of trade embargos. This means Cuba is still catching up with the rest of the world, but that’s part of the experience when cruising to Cuba!

In Cuba everyone dances and Havana is the capital of fun, when you walk around the city you will come across groups of musicians who spontaneously burst into song and bring joy to passersby, where you can step back in time with an architectural tour of Havana, a city that appears straight out of the 1950s.

Take in the bright colors while dancing through the streets of Havana, maybe tour a cigar factory

Visit the expansive Revolution Square and stroll along cobble-stoned streets lined with vintage cars, walk the lively streets of Havana at night for a totally different Cuban experience. Follow the beat towards an impromptu musical performance or step into any number of night clubs for a refreshing drink, order a true Havana Rum Mojito and relax!

Soak up the sun, feel the rhythmic beat of Cuba during your cruise and relax on powdery white sands with crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and perpetually sunny skies. The largest of the Caribbean islands, Cuba is a stunning tropical destination. But it’s also a captivating place with a complex history, rich culture, and fascinating people. A vibrant pulse and a life of its own. A place full of passion, music, heart and soul. Where good coffee, legendary cigars, and fine rum are plentiful. Cuba has plenty to offer and even more to explore.

Thomson and Fred Olsen ships have been cruising in Cuba in the last few years, MSC have Opera currently out of Havana, Premium cruise lines NCL, Carnival and Royal Caribbean, Luxury lines Regent and Oceania and  Culturally Immersive Azamara all have new itineraries for 2018 so whatever size ship and experience you want you are bound to find the cruise that suits you and be one of the firsts to explore this unique nation before it loses any of its unique nostalgia.
