Oceana Headed for refit , but I loved her…..

Hi Everyone As you may have heard P and O are sending Oceana in for a bit of a refit. As I was just on board I thought I would let you know the inside info…

She is a beautiful but bit tired ship and needs a few bits sprucing up as my mum would say. This is Her at Ajaccio Port.

i spoke with several of the staff on board and she is having an engine and refuse overall in Hamburg end November so will be out of action for a few weeks. Apparently this will make her more eco friendly. She is also getting a soft furnishing re –  furb too. I hope they don’t spoil her as she has an old worldly feel about her. As cruise should be in my opinion.  The atrium was stunning and every night there were dancers there young and old having fun.

The atrium on Formal night

I think the pool area was beautiful in the day or the evening, always a sunbed to be had and on a night she is lit up with beautiful lights that change colour all the time. She looked quite haunted in the fog on our inbound into Venice.

The cabins were quite spacious and even manage to grab a look at a mini suite courtesy of my wonderful cabin steward Dennis on change over day. Bit dated , so I wonder if they will be updated a bit in the refurbishment. It even has a curtain that would separate the bedroom off if you have family on the sofa bed. in the lounge area. The Balcony is massive with 2 beds on it ( my balcony barely fit 2 chairs and a small table. But was lovely to have all the same.  The mini suites had a bath as well. I love that idea, as after a long day walking a bath is a fab idea.

So all in all I hope she is all new and wonderful for the next guests on board after her refit. According to a trainee Officer, who we chatted with every night  she will look all sparkling and new. I just hope that she doesn’t loose that old worldly feel as it was quite special.

She will be back in the med next summer doing the wonderful itineraries again,

Check them out here……Oceana next year
