10 years of working at Cruise.co.uk

This week I celebrated 10 years of working at Cruise.co.uk and I thought that this was worth shouting about

I have really enjoyed my 10 years at Cruise.co.uk. I love talking to people and helping their dreams come true, talking cruises is such a lovely thing to do. Every call is different ranging from people who know exactly what they want, to first time passengers looking for help and advice. Over the years I have built up some fantastic relationships with my customers and love my catch ups, hearing who has had grandchildren and even receiving the odd Christmas present. I have a ‘rate my service’ section on my blog and have one of the highest numbers of comments within the company and it gives me a real glow when people thank me for my help.

As a cruise specialist I have been given the opportunity to see many cruise ships, these have taken the form of a day trip with lunch and a tour or a ‘familiarisation trip’ whereby I have had the opportunity to sail on a ship and enjoy the facilities on board whilst also attending seminars and training on the product. Our annual conference is also a 2 or 3 night mini cruise which doubles up as a Christmas celebration and gives us all chance to get together and find out the company’s aims for the coming year.
In 2014 I was selected by the management team for a premium trip around New Zealand and I was so proud to have been hand picked for this amazing trip. New Zealand had always been no 1 on my list of places to visit and  I was treated to an APT land tour of both the North and South Islands. This is me in Milford Sound which I promise is warmer when the main cruise ships call there.

All of these trips are invaluable in helping me to do my job properly, I always take lots of photo’s and write a review of the ship that I’ve toured. These can be seen be scrolling through my blog for recent ones or via www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-blogs/joscruisejollies/ships-i-have-been-on. Ships ( and people) are all so different and it is important to match the right ship to the customer. I always aim to give honest advice and it is so much easier to do this when I have tested the product myself.

Cruise.co is also a caring employer, they have allowed me to swap my hours around to accommodate my family life, I have always made school assemblies, sports days etc. A few years ago they also employed a personal trainer to put us through our paces and paid for staff to run the Birmingham Half Marathon. This was a charity event for a colleague and a fantastic way to get fit and for us all to bond. We repeated the event the following year and also ran the Wolf Run too.

Half marathon

I had been wondering whether 10 years was too long to be with a company – some of my friends seem to swap jobs every few years in order to further their career or further themselves. I though am perfectly happy where I am and writing this blog has helped me confirm that. I work with an amazing team of people, am given fantastic opportunities and enjoy my day to day role.  We do have to work hard here and the hours can be long but the rewards are great. Here’s to another 10 years at Cruise.co.uk
