Life After Death On The Nile

Good to hear a return of river cruise operator’s to the troubled region The Nile – and with Viking on their brand new ship. In 2010 58,000 Britons took a river cruise on the Nile in Egypt, by 2016 that number had dwindled to just 3,600 a decline of almost 95 per cent.

With several terrorist attacks it has been a difficult few years for the Egyptian people, and it doesnt make good reading for customers thinking of holidaying in the region.

It will be interesting to see how much of an impact Viking River Cruises decision to launch a ship on the Nile has, and will join Uniworld.

VIKING RA – 48 Passengers – 24 all suite staterooms across 3 cabin grades including veranda suites, there will be a spa, two Jacuzzis and a pool on board.

She will sail on the Nile on a Pharaohs & Pyramids tour starting in March 2018, and the 12 day cruise will include…Three night stay in Cairo before your flight to Luxor for an Eight day round trip to Aswan. The cruise will give you access to the tomb of Nefertari and the Valley of the Kings and excursions to the Temple of Khnum in Esna, The Dendra complex on Qena and a visit to a Nubian Village.

I am pleased the cruise lines have made this decision to go back to Egypt, I know the troubles have last so long and the economy will have suffered hugely, I have visited Egypt several times including Cairo and Luxor and visiting the Tombs along the way, the Nile is stunning sometimes not so pretty and sometimes stunning.

There is no advise when it comes to Cairo, where Nile cruises begin and end, and from where shore excursions to Giza are taken. But if Britons are tempted back to the Nile is to be seen, but one thing is for sure – there are few Rivers that offer so much.

Tell me if you would like to visit the Nile
