Book your sunbed before you go …. good or bad idea ???

Could the sunbed wars abroad be over ?? Thomas Cook have launched a trial called Choose Your Favourite Sunbed,  starting next month at three hotels, it will allow customers to pre-pay €25 to guarantee use of the same sun lounger throughout their holiday. All going well with the trial they will roll the idea out across 30 hotels by the summer just in time for the busy period !! If your hotel is eligible you will be emailed approx 6 days before your departure date with a link to choose the beds that you want, and i bet there will be people sitting at there computer waiting to book.

I personally think its not the best idea, could you imagine if the hotel doesn’t have enough sunbeds for everyone (which they normally don’t) and your not quick enough to pre book then you could be left without anywhere to relax for the full duration !! I always see sunbeds lying unoccupied for hours with just a towel, i feel really bed when i see anyone coming down to try and find a sunbed because they just weren’t quick enough in the morning to scoff their breakfast and run to the pool. We normally holiday in  Turkey and the hotels are massive so we have never really had a problem getting a sunbed, but about 6 years ago we went to Majorca and there was actually a crowd of people gathered around the pool at 7.30am waiting for the sunbeds to be unchained(my husband one of them lol)

I don’t think this will end the sunbed war, it could possibly make it worse with many complaints but i suppose that’s why they are trialing it before rolling it out across other hotels. It will be interesting to see if it lasts.
