These kids are running the show!

I have just returned from 5 nights on The Re-vamped – “re amplified” Independence of The Seas with Royal Caribbean and what an absolutely incredible trip it was. Watch out for my blog in the next few weeks where ill be showcasing all that is great about this mega ship.

This blog is about something I learned very recently from Royal Caribbean.

It turns out based on research 7 out of 10 people ask their kids about their holiday choices and family’s with kids often pick the ships their kids are most keen on. I am not even sure why this surprises me for years we have seen kids calling the shots but now Royal Caribbean have recognized its the 11 years and under age group that are having the biggest influence on the cruise demographic for the future.

An American Think Tank have advised RCI Royal Caribbean that these kids need to be given the opportunity to design their ship of the future by putting a firm emphasis on kids first with Royal.

Royal are referring to these kids as the ” Little Extraordinaires” they will initially testing the New look Independence of the seas.

an unbelievable nine out of ten families put their holiday happiness of their kids before themselves.

I get that the kids demographic is important to Royal Caribbean who are already in my opinion the finest family experience at sea and they plan to stay ahead but I personally think allowing the kids to determine the holiday choice is a bridge too far. (who’s paying for the trip after all)

I would be keen to hear your thoughts on this and I secretly wonder if I would change my mind on this if I had kids of that age of my own.

Are you a fan of Royal Caribbeans announcement and do you think other cruise lines will be left behind the times?
