Poetto Beach Cagliari Sardinia

Served perfectly by the Arst bus network www.arst.sardegna.it the Poetto district is located less than a 20 minute drive or bus journey from the Marina district of old town Cagliari.

Although buses frequent every 20 minutes they can be a few minutes late but you are kept well up to date on the electronic bus stop notices.

Any PQ or PF bus will take you in and out of Poetto.

What can you expect when you get there.

7km of beach front and marina with completely refurbished promenade. This reminds me of Ibiza crystal clear lush warm waters, fantastic inexpensive beach front restaurants serving fresh snacks and food perfect for the whole family.

The Marina offers boats and yatchs you can hire out.

There are watersport facilities all along the beach. This is a very nice surprise for a city like Cagliari to have such a fantastic beach.

Those wanting the paradise beaches typical for Sardinia can take a trip further South to the region of Chia, well know all over Europe as then place for Celeb spotting with coves and beaches that resemble the Caribbean.

The finest beach recommended to is the unspoilt Tuerredda in Southern Cagliari. This is 1 hour from the city centre and is best served by the arst bus network in summer months only.

You take the bus south and change at Chia for Bithia Sp Di Chia remember sometimes out of season the bus routes change.

Most Sardinia. People recommend renting a car to fully experience the island as then you can visit the southern regions of Porto Di Teulada and Capo Teulada. This would cost around €100-€120 in a taxi from your Cagliari City Hotel.

The best car hire rates in the area can be served via www.novacarhire.com however if you are booking a cruise package ask your specialist cruise consultant for a favourable rate.

Back to Poetto Beach we hired two comfy beach beds and an umbrella and table for €4 per person. In the height of summer these prices may vary.

We read a few menus but they all seem to serve a very similar type of snack bar food. So we decided on La Sella Del Diavolo which have a fantastic well priced menu.

We went for a chicken salad and Hamburgers with potatoes well it is poetto beach after all.

The meal with a beer and wine cost just €32 euros for 2 of us.

Eating out here is a pleasure as some of the view pictures will show.

The bus stop is just one road from the beach. There is a reason for this. The beach road is very quiet and peaceful so they have limited the number of cars allowed.

It’s also very difficult to find taxis on the beach.

We would fully recommend a trip to Poetto Beach for anyone crying out for a beach day break from the city.
