A Random Act Of Kidney

Those of you that know me well, or have had a chat with me over the past few weeks may know my wife and I have been collecting money for kidney research UK.

For the past 6 months we have been planning a family charity day and evening.

The day time event is a 10K walk across London’s iconic Bridges.

Most off my family joined us on the walk and collectively we raised over £900 with gift aid for Kidney research UK.

The walk was so important to us all as before Christmas my cousin Sean sadly passed away after his battle with kidney related problems.

Our evening event we had planned for over 6 months. We wanted to raise enough money for a memorial Bench engraved for my cousin in his Meadow where he was cremated.

We had a DJ and some incredible raffle prizes.

Our venue was amazing set in London Docklands with one of London’s finest views of Greenwich Observatory looking directly south across the Thames as the sun Set on London.

We made enough money as a family for our Sean’s bench and also got a real chance to celebrate his life.

The reason I share this post with you today is due to a random act of Kidney as I now refer to it.

One of my family members somewhere over Westminster Bridge was met by a man doing the London Bridges Walk; He read about our story for Sean’s bench and said please donate this £10 towards your fund for the evening Event.

This kind of selfless act of kindness along with so many generous donations and words of support can completely restore all faith in humanity.

There was a time just a few weeks ago when as a family we wondered if we should do this walk due to the terrorist threat in London. I am so pleased we all did the walk as it’s so clear to me that good will always win against evil and the love of a perfect stranger means the world.
