Princess to offer more from UK in 2018………

Princess Cruises has unveiled its biggest season of sailings from the UK for 2018.  As you know if you’ve read my previous blogs my last 2 cruises have been with Princess and I have to say they are my favourite.  My last cruise was onboard Caribbean Princess to the Fjords, click here to read all about it.

The line will increase its ex-UK capacity by 15% in 2018 compared with 2017, with Sapphire, Pacific and Royal Princess all homeporting in the UK. Royal Princess

Both Royal returning, and for the first time Sapphire Princess will sail out of Southampton, with the latter offering sailings to the Mediterranean and northern Europe and Royal Princess sailing round-Britain itineraries. I was lucky enough to do half of the British Isles itinerary in 2014 joining in Liverpool and have to say it was a fantastic way to see parts of Britain & Ireland which I would never go and see independently if I’m honest. And I think even better news the  Pacific Princess will offer round-trip voyages from Dover, sailing to northern and southern Europe. I’ve always had great feedback for this little ship and with her sister ship P&O Adonia back in 2017 that will give passengers 2 options if they prefer a smaller ship.Pacific Princess

“We’ve made a really great start on our 2017 programme, and our ex-UK sailings are particularly strong, so we wanted to get behind this opportunity. It will be our largest ever UK season, with four extra sailings compared with 2017.”

Roberts told TTG the move demonstrated “real confidence” in the UK market, despite concerns over Brexit and currency concerns. “We’ve had two years of double digit growth.

“Brexit and currency challenges are all things that we consider, but we believe there is great potential in the UK market, and we’ve had great support from the trade.”   BREXIT BREXIT BREXIT……..what else can we blame brexit for……..the weather, Englands poor performance in euros?? Sorry had to include that being a welshman!

Roberts attributed the line’s success in part to ITV’s The Cruise, which was filmed onboard Regal Princess and aired last March. “The TV show really helped – it got an audience of five million on a regular basis, and about 1.8 million people take a cruise annually, so a whole new audience were introduced to cruise,” he said.   Don’t know what you thought of this programme as I often wonder how scripted it is!

Also unveiled in the line’s 2018 programme is a return to summer Caribbean sailings – the first time the line has offered it in three years.

Alaska, where I did my very first cruise on Sea Princess back 2002 will also have its largest ever deployment with seven ships sailing in the region between May and September. Sea Princess

Certain itineraries will additionally offer increased “More Ashore” late night stays at a number of destinations including Belfast, Berlin and Oslo.

So as you can probably tell i’m a big Princess fan, I know it may not be everyones cup of tea but for me travelling with kids it was perfect, they really looked after them.

My boys on Ruby Princess loved the dining experience.
