Ditch the New Years resolutions!!

Tue 17th Jan, 2017 was..Ditch the New Years Resolutions Day, are you still sticking to yours?  As the clock struck midnight on January 1st, millions of inspired people around the world pledged to honour their New Year’s resolutions. But almost 3 weeks in, the commitment has already dwindled. Are you still on track with your New Years Resolution?? Many of us made New Year’s resolutions. Then we will struggle to keep them. Holidays in particular offer a challenge to those who have vowed, for instance, not to overindulge. If you decide to take a cruise, however, options on board the ships actually may help you keep at least some of your goals for the new year.

no smokingResolution: Quit smoking. You can’t light up just anywhere on cruise ships. Due to public demand, most lines ban smoking indoors and smokers are relegated to specific areas of the open deck.  I’m pleased to say i’ve never tried smoking!

Resolution: Find love. No guarantees here, but If you’re at an assigned dinner table you really get to know your table mates during a week together. If you’re on a small ship with open-seating dining, you’ll get to know practically everyone on the ship.  I did find love on a ship 14 years ago in Alaska, and am pleased to say we’ve been married now for 11 years with 2 boys aged 11 & 9.

Resolution: Spend more time with the kids. Cruise ships offer the perfect environment for family togetherness. There are opportunities to spend some quality time together over such activities as rock climbing, zipping down thrilling water slides and wildlife spotting. Cabins designed for families add to the comfort level.

Buffet from istockResolution: Lose weight. Despite the reputation of cruise ships being never-ending gorge fests, you may, with a little willpower, start a healthy lifestyle on a cruise. Many ships have state-of-the-art gyms, jogging tracks and fitness classes, with personal trainers available for hire. Dining room menus helpfully designate healthy choices and the buffets have salad bars and other healthy options.

If your still on track with your resolution – well done! My Wife’s still forcing salad on me every meal time!  I did say I was going to have a ‘dry’ January but that failed on the 3rd at the footy…….oh well, everything in moderation I think they say……..Plus we won!you can't go to footy and not have drink!
