Calling all Muggles, Wizards and Witches!

We’ve just had our February Half Term here in Wales and one of the treats my boys had was a Harry Potter afternoon Tea and a nearby hotel. My youngest son is a HUGE Harry Potter Fan! It’s been 20 years since the first Harry Potter was released in the UK but its still just as popular as ever! So if your thinking about dusting off your wands and bringing your broomsticks down from the attic then have i spotted a treat for you!

For all you Hogwarts fans, the next best thing to a school of Witchcraft and Wizardry is during this summer on the Thames River all of all places. Harry Potter-themed river cruises will take passengers on a “magical” itinerary, visiting landmarks that appeared in the film series. The experience will be held on board the 4* Magna Carta barge , the Harry Potter cruise sails round trip from London, kicking off with a traditional afternoon tea . During the cruise,  passengers can tour Harry Potter filming locations, such as Virginia Water, this is where Harry encounters Buckbeak at the lake in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, Dorney Court and Picket Post Close, which was the real-life location of 4 Privet Drive in the first Harry Potter film and Christ Church College at Oxford University (the Great Hall at Hogwarts), as well as Warner Brothers Studios for a behind-the-scenes Harry Potter tour – I’ve done this with my family and would go again in a heartbeat!

Other stops include Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle; all tours are included in the cruise fares. The Harry Potter cruise is seven fun filled nights, and there are two departures available: August 5th and August 19th. In addition to tours, the cruises include all transfers, the afternoon tea experience on embarkation day, all meals on board the ship, all wines with lunch and dinner, an open bar and use of on board bicycles in port. You’ll even be dining on Hogwarts-inspired meals throughout the trip. Fares for a standard cabin , based on double occupancy, start at – wait for it $5,350 . My children have asked , the answer is no, but good luck to those that do go! The barges Capacity is 8 guests and 4 staff, so intimate but there’s also an option to charter the entire barge, unfortunately if you want to hire out the whole boat, you’re going to have to fork out $39,100 (approx £27,411)!

Take care everyone in this cold weather.
