Seriously, would you really want to take Dot Cotton on your cruise?

People watching TVI hate to have to admit it but, like so many other people,  I am a big soap fan and love following Corrie and Eastenders, even if they drive me mad sometimes, and before you ask, no I am not old enough to have watched Corrie from the start, quite.

Of course, unless you have Sky, going away on holiday means missing out on several episodes of each and if you are an avid viewer this can be an issue. No more!  It has been announced that with the launch of BBC HD last week that British cruise passengers will be able to keep up with their favourite . BBC HD is a bespoke channel for cruise ships and will allow passengers to keep up with all their favourite shows while on board, albeit a few days after their normal TV slots.

P&O’s Paul Ludlow has announced that they are delighted with the addition of this channel as it will enhance their in cabin entertainment for guests on board along with giving them a touch of home while they travel.

Now whilst I love my soaps, would I really want to watch them while I am on a cruise? Would you? Is this new TV channel in your cabin going to encourage you to watch TV more while you are cruising? To be honest, I don’t think I would. It’s a great idea but there are so many fabulous things to do on a cruise ship, things that you can’t do at home, that I would rather make the most of them, I can catch up when I get home. A cruise holiday is the chance to get away from it all and live the dream surely so why would you want to sit in your cabin watching TV. I don’t think I have ever watched TV on a cruise. Yes, I use the TV to play music or check my on board account etc, but never to watch TV.

As for taking Dot on board, I wonder what she would make of it all!!

Happy Cruising Folks!
