Pride Rainbow flies over the Danube – a first for River Cruising!

It isn’t often that you hear of a ‘first’ in the world of river cruising but this really is an exciting announcement, and a definite first, from Emerald Waterways. On 29th July 2017 they will be embarking on the first ever LGBT river cruise for UK passengers, and about time I hear you say! Well done Emerald Waterways.

Of course there have been many, many LGBT charters on Ocean Going cruises but never before on a river and what a fabulous river they have picked – the Danube. One of my favourite rivers as you know.

The sailing is already open for bookings and is sure to sell out quickly, remember these river cruise ships only take about 140 – 160 passengers, and interest is sure to be keen.

Prices start from £1695.00 per person, an excellent price for a river cruise, and includes flights from UK regional airports, transfers, all guided tours during the cruise, meals and tips, and as if that wasn’t enough Emerald are throwing in a free Premium Drinks Package worth a whopping £378 per couple.

Having cruised along the Danube myself, I can highly recommend the beautiful ports of call included. Each and every one of them is beautiful and fascinating in it’s own way. Melk Benedictine Abbey is a particular highlight, stunning and Majestic, towering over the Danube. The Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest is a beautiful sight, worth getting up early to see the sun rise over it! And in Durnstein don’t forget to buy a bottle of the locally produced Apricot liquor before you leave, it’s delish!

I have posted the complete itinerary at the end of this post so you can see in detail what is included.

A special highlight of this cruise will be the broadcasting of the Gaydio breakfast show on board for three days with hosts Chris Holliday (apt name!) and Emma Goswell. Will guests be able to take part I wonder? It’s certainly going to be a party atmosphere on board, nobody is going to be going to bed early on this cruise I can tell you!

All in all I think Emerald will realise they have started something with this cruise first and I predict that this will be the first of many LGBT river cruises.

Interested? Just give me a call on 0800 408 6084 or email me at [email protected] and I will be delighted to help you make your booking.

Happy Cruising Folks!
