Ahoy Me Hearties! I’m Off To Sail The Caribbean Seas!

I’ll be aboard the Marella Discovery to be precise! Sailing the Seven Isles!  It’ll be the first time I have visited the Caribbean – well, almost.  I honeymooned in Montego Bay Jamaica 1977 and spent 2 nights in Cozumel, Mexico in 1989.

I’ve never sailed with Marella (Thomson) Cruises. They have a huge following and continue to be one of the UK’s most popular cruise lines. Providing All Inclusive drink options, prepaid gratuities, friendly staff, great shows, over 22 Regional Airports in the UK and ££’s on board. The Marella Discovery is one of the fleet’s 6 ships, (the latest acquisition being the Marella Explorer) and used to be owned by  Royal Caribbean under the name Splendour of the Seas.  She was refitted and now boasts Rock Climbing Walls, mini-golf, indoor and outdoor pools, plus a deck-top movie screen and spa!

So much to ‘Discover’ before we even cry ‘Land Ahoy!!’

I am very excited to discover and explore the delights of Barbados, Tobago, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Lucia Martinique & Grenada!  All in 7 nights! It’ll be a whistle stop tour,  with new Islands to explore, each with its own unique personality and history!  I am especially interested to see how the islands have bounced back from the devastation of Hurricanes Irma & Maria which hit last year.  Our itinerary has had to be changed slightly unfortunately, with St Thomas and San Juan replaced with Tobago and Antigua.  But as I’ve never visited any of these Islands, I’m sure I wont be disappointed.

Mostly though we intend to relax and explore the beaches, do some snorkelling, a bit of jet-skiing and sightseeing.  Cruising to the Caribbean is all about rest and relaxation, dancing to the rhythm of the Steel Drums and Reggae music, drinking plenty of  Rum,  and basking in the glorious Caribbean sunshine.

If Marella Cruises inspire the ‘pirate’ in you, here’s the latest deals and passengers reviews.

I’ll be posting some photos of my adventures – so ‘Keep A Weathery Eye Open Matey!’  That’s Pirate speak for watch this space
