Is A Cruise To The Caribbean A Good Idea?

Is a cruise to the Caribbean a good idea at this time of year?

I have to ask this question as I am currently sat in my office in Cyprus, looking at a beautiful azure sky reading the latest news advising that so many cruise lines have had to amend their courses due to the latest hurricane, Matthew, which is currently causing severe disruption to significant areas of the Caribbean.

Take a look at the number of ships effected – Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess Cruises and Disney have adjusted a number of ships’ itineraries to avoid the storm’s path. Allure of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Sensation, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Pride, Carnival Victory, Carnival Elation, Island Princess, Norwegian Sky and Disney Dream so far have been affected.

I have always thought that travelling to this area of the world in hurricane season is perhaps not the best idea. I know sometimes you may not have an alternative but it is something I always mention to my customers when they say they want the Caribbean at this time of year as many of us aren’t aware that it is the hurricane season and they believe  the weather in the Caribbean is good all year long.

But I suppose better a cruise than a resort stay! At least the cruise lines can move the itinerary and ports of call, not so easy if you are staying for 2 weeks in a hotel.

There are a few things you can do though to help you prepare if you have to travel to the Caribbean at this time – BOOK THROUGH CRUISE.CO.UK – this is what we are here for – to help. Just imagine if you had booked all your arrangements separately  – who would help you? The airline, the cruise line? We will advise you of your options and help you get where you need to be on time.

Also, have a couple of nights stay before your cruise, if the worst happens then, you have at least chance to get to your departure point before the ship sails – even a one-night stay in port will give you some peace of mind.

As I said in my previous blog why not look a the smarter packages on our website, these give you the buffer before your cruise – fingers crossed you wont need it.
