Azamazing Azamara?

Was she AzAmazing?

It’s that time of year again when cruise ships call into Liverpool and we are lucky enough to visit and have a look around whilst the ship is in port.

Last week it was the turn of Azamara Quest to grace the River Mersey and the port of Liverpool.

How did she compare to other luxury ships I have sailed on and  visited?

Well, to be honest I was slightly disappointed and a little underwhelmed.

She looks good and the majority of the public areas have had an expensive refit. The carpets are beautiful, soft and very nice to walk on – but a very light beige/cream colour? With the footfall that they will receive, I am sure they will be replacing them every 6 months. So perhaps not the best choice.

It was really disappointing to see that the main show lounge had not had this upgrade, it really let’s the ship down, and needs an urgent re fit – I can not understand why they did not do this when doing the refit in the first place.

The ship certainly has a lot to offer. The outside decks are full of lovely well upholstered sun loungers and chairs, and there is plenty of room, so even on itineraries with lots of sea days, nobody should feel like a sardine. Just don’t expect to do much swimming!

Normally on ship visits we are treated to a lovely lunch, which helps the cruise line to showcase their fantastic food. Unfortunately on this occasion as they had a packed programme of visits throughout the day, this was not possible. What a shame we could not experience the culinary delights. We did see all the restaurants – both normal and speciality.

I have to say that the menus in all of them looked fab. The decor, picture windows, were amazing.

I am sure that the passengers on board were very happy with the cruise and certainly the few that remained on board were smiling and looked to be having a great time.

They were looking forward to their AzAmazing evening excursion in Liverpool. These are once in a life time excursions put together by Azamara on every cruise – on this cruise the passengers were being treated to a classical concert in the first half and then after the interval at St Georges Hall that evening  the ” tribute ” Beatles band that play at the ledgendary Cavern were performing for them – I am sure it was a Magical evening.

Have you sailed with Azamara – what are your experiences?
