The Cuban Revelation!

No I don’t mean Cuban Revolution………

Cuba – One of the most enigmatic places on the planet, is suddenly becoming a rather popular tourist hot-spot, but more importantly a winning cruise destination, a revelation, one might say……..

Since the recent talks of a reconciliation between Cuba and the USA, the country has now become a new attraction for many a nationality.

Of course here in the UK we have been holidaying in Cuba for years, and although it’s a place I’ve never been to, I feel that it’s quickly becoming pretty high up on my bucket list.

The reason for this blog is due to the news that popular cruise line ‘Voyages to Antiquity’ has announced they will be sailing to Cuba as of November 2017. Their ship ‘Aegean Odyssey’ will be the perfect ship to visit this brilliant destination. The intimate 350 passenger ship will be able to showcase the best of what the island has to offer, without having thousands of people flooding the streets all at the same time – at least for now!

Of course we would expect the size of ship to increase the more popular Cuba gets, but this is why I personally would suggest cruising there now in the 2017/18 season before this happens.

Voyages To Antiquity

So what else has Cuba got to offer?

Well apart from the capital Havana, a bustling, Latin American, Rum drinking, old American car driving, island city which is going to be well worth a couple of days sight-seeing. Cuba also has stunning beaches, amazing nightlife, wonderful cuisine, and one or two famous exports, probably the most famous being cigars.

Cigar making

Now I’m not claiming to be an expert on the topic, but I have smoked many a Cuban cigar in my time, and I can safely say that the experience (assuming you enjoy a cigar) is beyond good. Some of the worlds top brands, such as Cohiba and Monte Cristo all hail from Cuba’s sandy shores.

Don’t ask me what makes Cuban cigars so much better than any other country – I would guess at the climate and tropical location, mixed with years of experience in the trade. I guess you’ll have to get yourself there and find out from the experts!

What Cuba does have in abundance though, both good and bad, is history.

I don’t need to tell you that Cuba has had it’s political ups and downs (to put it mildly), conflicts, problems, drugs, wars, tyrants, etc etc a lot of which is still visible today. But what all this leaves behind is a wealth of interest for the hardy tourist.

Cuba Building

Indeed Cuba is like nowhere else on the planet, which is why I can only foresee it becoming one of the most, if not the most, popular destination south of Florida in the coming years.

I can’t wait to book my tickets out there, hopefully you can’t either, so give me a ring & let’s send you off to Cuba today!

Thanks for reading and as always, until next time folks………..
