Merry Christmas! A Quick Look Back At 2017 – The Most Important Year Yet?

Well folks it’s that time of year when I wish all my family, friends, colleagues, readers, and basically everyone who wants to hear it, A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

2017 has been the fastest but also probably the most important for me since 2004, which was the year I first met my now wife (awww).

Why?

The birth of my son of course!

Since hitting the grand age of 30 it’s been a whirlwind, and up to now 2015 was a great year, it was the year I got married, then in 2016 i achieved a lifelong dream of holidaying to the Maldives, but at the back end of 2016 the wife broke the news to me that she was pregnant and 40 weeks (give or take) later, our little Michael was born.

He’s just over 4 months old now and it’s an amazing feeling being a dad and watching him grow every day. Quite honestly me and the wife are on cloud nine at the moment, and we can’t wait for our first family Christmas.

Work wise, this year also saw me take an amazing trip to Shanghai in China – still more blogs to come from this trip I promise! An unreal experience that I will literally remember for the rest of my life, and I wanted to thank Cruise.co for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

A personal achievement I succeeded with this year, was knocking booze on the head for four months. This on the run up to the baby being born, I wanted to see just how important drinking was. The answer, not important at all. My abstinence from alcohol was born from the worry of having to rush the wife into hospital as she can’t currently drive, although she is learning, but it became a personal goal to see how long I could avoid it. Socially it was difficult and I did miss it, but I got there, and the feeling of cracking open a nice bottle of bubbles after Michael was born was all the more sweet. Well done me.

So what does 2018 have in store?

Well I have two holidays booked already! Two places I’ve never been before, Malta, in March, and Sardinia in August. Can’t actually wait! Sunshine and sea is something I have badly missed this year and most of the year before, so I cannot explain how much I need it! As does the Mrs!

I hope to have my biggest year yet from a work perspective, now that we are settling into parenting, I feel I can really get stuck into work again after a mixed year this year! With loads of new ships and deals to boot, it promises to be a great year.

I’ll try and wish you all a Happy New Year in 10 days time but if I don’t I genuinely hope you have a great one, and a wonderful Christmas!

Here’s to the future!

Thanks for reading, and as always, until next time………
