    Hi Ken

Very well done! We loved Casablanca but many others do not. Yes the walk from the ship to the city is a killer - takes ages and the heat!!

We hired a taxi and had a ball stopping at

    • The beach for a 30 min swim in the freezing Atlantic
    • 1 hour stop in the 5* resorts on the Corniche
    • 2.5 hour stop at the Hassan II Mosque
    • 20 minute stop at Notre Dame de Lourdes and the beautiful stained glass windows
    • 20 minute walk around Mohammed V Square
    • He took us on a 1 hour tour of the Bazaar and we ended up in Rick's cafe and we paid out driver 25 each.
We had dessert and mint tea in Ricks and watched the film.

We walked back to the ship - wrecked!

    A great day!

    Ah,Tomvet.
Was it Rick's Cafe or Rick's Bar,there are now two of them.
The 'new' one is Rick's Cafe, only a few years old.(2004)
The original one,Rick's Bar (not in the film) is a full scale mock up in the Hyatt Regency.

    Hi JC
    I knew you weren't!
I have to say I loved Rick's cafe.
I did realise there was another Ricks - is this the one that has the original coat stand from the film (or is it only Bogart's coat and hat???) . I thought it was in the Hilton and we went around for a gander but obviously was not there.
Moral of story - don't leave your guide books and notes on the ship!!
    Anyhow we loved Casablanca!

    Hi T
Yes it was the Hilton, must have closed the bar.
I have a photo somewhere with the hat + coat on.
Not sure about Casablanca though,,Hassan 11 mosque is the one to see, beautiful.
But a walk round the market + seeing cats walking across food stalls really put me off.
The contrast in the old side + western side,,,with the posh houses + hotels is unbelievable.
