Hi, we have just booked a cruise on Eclipse and would appreciate some advice from anyone who has sailed on this ship recently on the Classic & Premium drinks packages.
We do tend to enjoy ourselves and drink plenty and on paper the packages both look good.
We really would like to know from experienced Celebrity cruisers if packages represent good value for money compared to paying for drinks individually and whether it is advantageous or not to pre-purchase before joining.
Thanks in advance. Great looking forum.

Celebrity Eclipse alcohol package
We only spend around $70 per day on drinks, I pre-order some wine in the Gift section of the website plus a 1litre of Gordon's Gin and 1 of Dark Rum which comes with 6 cans of soda but on the gift tag you have to complete we ask to swap the tins of soda for tonic and sprite. That cost is high £49 each bottle, or so it would seem until you look at the Classic and Premium packages. A friend when they came back they were on the Premium at around $56 per person per day and whilst she went over the limit her husband was under, so they broke even. So it is personal choice on how much you will drink. Hope these comments help. The link to the gifts option http://www.celebritycruises.com/bonv....do?cat=SPIRIT
We had the run of all drinks including the top brands in both the Molecular bar (Brilliant) and the Martini Bar (Great fun). I did write a review and give or take a few pounds I reckoned that we broke even around day 10 of the 16.
In the event we return to any Celebrity ship we would not hesitate in repeating the Premium Package and certainly would book it in advance where there is a small saving to be made.
If you enjoy wines there is a great innovation in 'Cellar masters' and from evening 3 in the restaurant the 'wine by the glass' rule went out of the window, or porthole if you prefer: our chosen bottles were on the table to greet us.
We also found that there were many like-minded passengers on the package which gave rise to some fun socialising at the various bars.
Hope this helps.
To actually place the cost in a little perspective, I spotted a reference to a Thomson's All Inclusive package (AI)on another thread.
The Thomson AI was charged at £398.00 for I assume 7 days. That is the equivalent to £56.85 per day. On the cost that I quoted for my Celebrity Eclipse cruise the cost was equivalent to £71.00 per day.
Now taking into account both the quality of the ships and the variety of available drinks, wines and cocktails, £14 a day between 'a couple' looks amazingly good value.

We had two adult Classic packages on Eclipse last month (bought in advance in May before the price increases) and two Classic non-alchoholic packages for our teenagers.
Given the number of juices, coffees (Cafe Al Bacio is our favourite "bar"), beers, soft drinks, bottles of water, glasses of wine we consumed, plus the odd glass of port/liqueur we were well ahead of our minimum daily spend on each package in order to break even. We took advantage of the package to take drinks back to our cabin for lazy times on the balcony. We certainly didn't go short in the main dining room where our glasses were topped up frequently.
And perhaps the best bit was paying up front...it made a huge difference to our final statements!
Hi If you like a good drink go for the package. I purchased the premium as I love the martini bar, Molecular bar ( try a lucky cat where they use the liquid nitrogen and your drink is smokinggggggggggg ) I drank $12 wine with lunch (3 large glasses) At dinner I wine, a wee cosmopolitan and a drambuie with my coffee. I had top of the range brandy in my coffee throughout the day. Drank the celebrity champagne, Belvediere vodka, tried all the cocktails on the list. My hubby had the classic package as he only likes beer and vodka. I got a print out of our bill and we had paid for our packages in 7 days we were on a 14 day cruise so 7 were free lol We met lots of people who had the package and used it to their advantage. 2 couples we met used their package cost up in 5 days. We made great friends on our Eclipse cruise and all had the package. Go for it. Happy Sailing x

My wife and I went to the Baltic in July on the Eclipse and decided to get the Classic Package @ $1408 between us.
Ordering by the glass is a pain in the main restaurant - too few wine waiters and not being able to use the package for room service is a joke. I had to go from deck 11 to desk 3 to get 2 glasses of wine to have with our lunch or pay another $7 each. I think the package is a rip off. I had a good go at getting my money's worth and enjoyed the challenge!

Thank you all very much for the comprehensive answers and the dapper picture. I think we will go for the Premium Package, it appears the better value.

I am about to go on the Eclipse and had a similar question. I can see how much the packages are and what they include but was unable to see how much drinks were. I contacted Celebrity through their website and within 24hours they sent me a reply which contained 6 price lists (for different bars). Looking at these and knowing our drinking habits on holiday and wanting to totally relax we are going for the premium package. I don't want to have to think about anything while I'm away and paying up-front allows me to totally relax. :-)
