Amsterdam River Part 2!

You may have recently read my blog about my first evening in Amsterdam attending the 7th annual River Convention and I thought I would carry on with a little information and the evening and following day.

My evening was spent onboard the MS Emily Bronte , A Riviera travel river liner. She only entered service earlier this year and you an really tell, she is a beautiful ship, everywhere was perfectly decorated and kept spotlessly clean. Cabins were beautiful and spacious and right from the lead in outside cabin with a large window upto the french balcony cabins which I was lucky enough to stay in overnight.

One thing that you really have to shout about is the food onboard, absolutley impeccable, every single course. OK theirs not as many options to choose form as the large ocean liners but the choices you do have were fantastic!

After dinner we headed to the bar for a glass off wine, you wont find much entertainment onboard the river ships its very ow key, and will generally include a resident piano player and local acts will board in some ports of call also to provide entertainment.

The following morning included a whilst stop tour of 3 more river ships who were also docked in Amsterdam, this gave us a quick but brief glance of what to expect onboard.

Croisi Europe Symphonie – In my opinion this was a bright colorful ship, smaller in size than the Emily Bronte she only had 2 decks, not quite as high spec but a good value 3 star ship and most importantly unlike the others she is all inclusive onboard which could prove a huge benefit to many! Mainly French guests tend to sail onboard with the remaining guests from the UK, USA and Australia. This ship also catered for family’s offering cabins sleeping 3 which is very rare in the river cruising world!

Amadeus Silver 111 – This was probably my favorite, a high spec beautifully decorated ship. Every cabin was a great size , They had a beautiful atrium style area with a feature in the middle. There was an onboard spa area with massaged beds, a a gym and hairdressers too.

Our final stop was the Scenic jade, a very modern and contemporary feel ship compared to the others. lots of chrome and glass and eye catching areas throughout. Plenty of cabin options including large suites and always a hit with Loccotaine toiletries too.

It was a fantastic experience to have a tour of all of these beautiful river ships, if you have exhausted ocean cruising or just fancy something a little bit different rover cruising could be the next option for you!
