Fireworks at Sea

Its that time of year where our skies are lit up by colorful fireworks and organised events are taking place all over the country. We recently ran a story on our website www.cruise.co.uk on fireworks at sea with the top destination being Rio in Brazil. The Brazilians go all out to celebrate Christmas when the rest of the world are feasting on Turkeys and yule log. What better way to see a display than on Copacabana beach.

Second is Dehli, India. The religious celebration of Diwali-also know as festival of lights where worshippers from all over the world come together to watch the spectacular display.

New Years Eve, Sydney – Australia

Being slightly biased I do prefer London, but then you can’t really watch it from  a cruise ship on the Thames. Watching the amazing firework display over Sydney Opera House is definitely a ‘Bucket List’ moment.

Malta International Display only introduced firework displays a few years ago, but already has become quickly one of the best in the world.

I would say the most famous fireworks from Sea are in Madeira on New Year’s Eve. This is a really popular port of call when customer are booking a cruise for Christmas and New Year sailing from the UK. The Guinness award winning fireworks are spread along the ampitheatre that is Funchal. Every year a spectacular display is held here to mark the end of one and year and the beginning of the next. Hopefully I will get to see it some day in person.

I think that what does make fireworks special is that they are only displayed at certain times of the year and not openly available all year round. It amazes me how the displays are put together and how all the timings are accurate. It’s not like they can rehearse a large event, having said that it’s probably computerised.
