Adult Only Aurora

A new Adult Only ship for P&O.

It was announced this week that once the Aurora emerges from dry dock in April 2019 she will join the Oriana and Arcadia as an adult only ship. The Aurora now being one of the smallest amongst the fleet holding 2094 with the Oriana being slightly smaller holding 1880. During the refit she will under go a number of changes such as updates to the suites, public areas -both the piano bar and the Spinnaker bar, and the Belvedere food court. Since the selling of the Adonia which was at the time P&O’s smallest ship and also an adult only this can only be a good thing. It still gives customers a choice of three ships if they are exclusively looking for adult only. All the passengers that have already made their booking will be given the option of changing or a refund. But it is like when they sold the Adonia, I don’t understand why they can’t hold off until all the itineraries have sailed and then make the change.

Have you sailed on Aurora recently and do you think it was in need of a re fit? Do you think this is good news it is becoming adult only? There could still be a few disappointed guests who enjoy sailing on her with young families. Families aren’t always wanting big ships, especially if they have small children it could be daunting.

This makes me really intrigued as to what and how big the new ships will be that they have on order, with the largest at the moment still being the Britannia. How big are they going to be? It is always exciting and real buzz when there is a new ship about to be launched and over the next few years P&O alone have two. The crusing world is forever changing but keeping it simple, traditional, relaxed is what P&O are good at so lets hope the new ships are on par with the rest of the fleet.

Watch this space…….
