Extend your cruise with a City Stay

We all know one of the great things about cruising is that you can wake up in a new destination everyday! A lot of cruisers nowadays see the benefit in Fly Cruising – this is especially seen in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the USA – The reason being Is as opposed to cruising from the UK and spending at least a few days at sea, Fly Cruising gives you the opportunity to take advantage of more port intensive itinerary’s and also include a pre or post cruise stay – in essence combining a City Break with you cruise

So why would you choose to add a pre/post stay to your cruise?

Extend your Holiday – If choosing a 7-night cruise duration but if like me you feel a week is just not enough a Pre/Post Stay could extend your Holiday for 1,2,3 or even 7 nights – The duration is entirely up to you!

Local airports – More commonly for Cities in the med such as Venice, Barcelona & Rome when combining a pre/post stay you can fly from an airport local to you – With lots of different airlines offering flights on different days at certain points in the year from a variety of regional airports, you could fly from your nearest one without the hassle of having to travel further afield

Explore the destination in full – This is a key point when planning your dream cruise is when you look at the itinerary to check how much time you really get in your ports especially on Embarkation and Disembarkation days – If you have always dreamed of visiting the colosseum and St Peters Basilica and your cruise sails from Rome add a pre or post stay to ensure you get the most out of what the city has to offer.

Top 3 destinations to add on a Pre/Post Stay in the Mediterranean

Barcelona – Take a stroll around the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral, the works of Antonio Gaudi who’s architectural work can be found all around the city, Visit the Olympic Stadium home to the 1992 Olympics and from outside off  ers breath-taking panoramic views of the harbour and marvel at the famous dancing fountains of Montjuic with displays of music, water acrobatics and lights which thousands of people flock to see whilst in the city.

Rome – Civitaveccia Port is located 50 miles north of the city of Rome so if Rome has always been on your list of places to visit a few days before your cruise or after will ensure you see the key attractions such as the colosseum, Trevi fountain and the Sistine Chapel.

Venice – When people ask me what is the best thing to do/see/experience I always say the very best thing you can do is to get lost in Venice, wander around the city’s streets will help you really feel its heartbeat and experience its charm.

Whatever stage of your Dream cruise you are at, a pre or post cruise stay is definitely something to consider, The only question is, where will you explore next?
