Winter is coming!!!!

If you are a die-hard fan of Game of Thrones or GoT as it is known by us “Throners” then time is running out for you to visit King’s Landing, Capital of Westeros, which is filmed in Croatia.

Authorities in the UNESCO World Heritage site are considering cutting the limit on daily visits by cruise liners from five ships to two.

In June, this year more than 5000 tourists from cruise liners flocked to the city in a single day on top of the thousands holidaying there already.

Just like Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen’s Dragon’s tourism has grown into such a beast that it is becoming difficult to control and the Mayor of Dubrovnik is prepared for the cuts to impact on the local economy to save the city.

Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic said recently,

“It must never happen again that more than two cruise ships come to the town at the same moment, I am not here to make people happy, but to make the quality of life better.

Some of the cruise lines will disagree with what I’m saying but my main goal is to ensure quality for tourists and I cannot do it by the keeping the situation as it is.

We will lose money in the next two years—a million euros maybe by cutting the number of tourists—but in the future, we will gain much more. We deserve to be a top-quality destination.”

So, if you want to see where Cersei completed her walk of shame and Tyrion and Lord Varys plotted their defence against Stannis Baratheon or where Daenerys Targaryen asks the Spice King of Qarth for ships to take her army across the Narrow sea then look at the great deals below that include this wonderful city.
