Princess Cruises brews its own beer……

Princess Cruises is launching a new beer to help toast its forthcoming 50th anniversary. The ‘Seawitch West Coast IPA’ – named after the line’s logo – was developed exclusively for Princess Cruises in partnership with US-based Strike Brewing Company.

The beer will be introduced on board Princess Cruises’ newest ship, Regal Princess, when it provides the setting for Princess Cruises’ 50th anniversary celebrations in November this year. Seawitch will be available across the fleet by early 2015.

The brewer states the beer features ‘the balanced aroma of lightly roasted malt and barley, which is strongly accented by the crisp dry flavour of a unique hop blend’. It will retail for $6.25 and be available on board in bars and lounges.

Further Seawitch beers are set to be introduced from next year and will represent some of the cruise destinations Princess Cruises’ ships visit.

Paul Ludlow, Princess Cruises’ Managing Director UK and Europe, said: “We’re all counting down to Princess Cruises’ 50th anniversary celebrations, so being able to raise a glass of our own beer will make for the ideal toast. We hope all of our guests, from those who have travelled around the world with Princess Cruises to those just starting out, will celebrate our milestone anniversary on board with us.”

Princess Cruises will officially launch its 50th anniversary year with the naming ceremony of Regal Princess on November 5 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The ship will be named by the original cast of TV show The Love Boat, which ran for ten seasons from 1977-1987 and was mostly set on board Princess Cruises ships.

Can you name any of the characters from the original show?
