Arrested in Alaska – don’t tell my mum!

Today I am giving a cruise talk past and present to “The Ladies Friendship Group” in Morecambe, Lancashire for a group of 50 ladies. This is me using slave labour also know as my children, to help pack cruising packs for the lovely ladies.

This is not the first time I have done this and I am certainly sure it won’t be last. I love doing this as I get to talk about my favourite subject – cruising.

My talk usually begins with an introduction to how cruising began. I have quite a good insight into this as in 1889 my husbands great great grandfather paid £70 ( today’s equivalent £7200) for a first class ticket return to Australia onboard the RMS Iberia. He very kindly left a journal of his days at sea and I am planning to add this as a blog in a later post.

It really is quite interesting to see how cruising has changed over the years and sometimes I feel not necessarily in a good way. I also talk about my three years at sea with Princess Cruises and some of the things that happen behind the scenes.

Within this I talk about cruise destinations and tips for ports and finally I round off with a run down on types of cruising and cruise companies.

My talk is interjected with tales of my arrest in Alaska! Don’t tell my mum! Missing a ship in Alaska. Russians singing the British national anthem in St Petersburg as I walked into a bar and out of the frying pan into the fire in Rio De Janeiro.
