cruise on thomson spirit - turkey, egypt, israel - 03/03-10/03/2010.

had a very enjoyable cruise on thomson spirit - after long and cold winter just fancied a little bit sun - so booked last minute on thomson spirit.
cabin we had - oustside on deck 3 - not the biggest, but everything you need is there..
food - a lot of choice and available 24 hours a day - good, but not excellent ..
entertainment - brilliant!

excursions are all reasonably priced - full day excursion in egypt to pyramids&tombs (13 hours) including lunch - 80.00 pounds per person well worth it (only long drive to cairo - 3.5hours on the coach) or dead se& musada in israel (11 hours) - 74 pounds including lunch - great to see and float in dead sea before it dissapears:) plus some history of musada in the morning... to see jerusaleum from ashdod - its easy to take taxi from the port (about 1 hour from the port) and explore at your own pace.. ashdod is huge industrial port - so worth taking excursion or hire the taxi...in israel - immigration is very strict - so first port of call in israel - ashdod- immigration police asks to see every passenger - so early start for everyone - 7.00am:)

drinks are reasonably priced - stella £2.70/pint, bottle of house red - £12.00, gin/tonic - £2.70..
ship is very clean, but suffers from vibration even when docked at the port..

overall - we had a very good cruise - weather was gorgeous in egypt and israel - +30 and sun!!!

Hi Tanya, Glad you had a good time, we are going on Wed (24th) :):) What did you do about currency visiting different places, not sure that we would want to buy anything...we\'re not pyramid in a snow globe buyers! You never know tho\'. Thanks, Dawn.

We have just returned from the following weeks cruise and would agree with above review.......my only comment would be that we were on deck 6 and never felt the vibration in our cabin at all...just in the Broadway show lounge....we didn\'t think of it as a problem at all !!
Opinion: Agree Comment by North, Huddersfield (15 Mar 10 14:08) about this REVIEW
Good review - be careful with taxis if you want to go to Bethlehem too as the white taxis you will get at the port can not take you in to Bethlehem itself.Of course you can get a white one to Jerusalem and then a green one to Bethlehem. This is because the Green ones belong to Palestinians who are allowed in but the white ones belong to Israelis who are not !!! As always agree the fare in advance - the Israeli white taxis are of a very good standard - nothing like Egyptian ones !
