Returned last night from Pharoahs and Prominsed Land cruise. On arrival we discoverd ports of call had been changed. We visited Alanya in Turkey instead od Latakia In Syria. We had no problem with this and enjoyed a really good day. The second change was an overnight stop in Ashdod cancelled and a day spent in Haifa. This really was a lovely city. We really enjoyed this cruise as the Middle East was all new to us.

Did you take any of the excursions on this cruise. Where would you recommend doing your own trips.
Question by Wilson, Widnes (11 Mar 10 22:26) about this REVIEW
we are going on this cruise on 24/03/2010 (last minute booking) - we were wondering what the price of the excursions were like and whether we can visit some of the places of interest ourselves. Hope we enjoy this cruise as much as you seem to have done. Thanks for your report.

Hello and thank you for your review. I am booked to go on this cruise next week and have some queries if you have time to reply please. Were there many children on board and on the excursions? What was the weather like at each country please? Also if you did the Thomson excursions are there any which entail a great deal of walking or unavoidable uphill walking please?

Add additional comment regarrding kids, walking and temps A few kids were on board and were well behaved. The tous we went on pyramids and panoramic jerusalem was not much walking, was quite flat but in the churches etc were stairs that had to be climed to go to the upper floor etc but the people with walking sticks seemed to do ok and the guides kept to a sensible pace for them. The guides were very good. The meals at lunch at the 5 star hotels on the tours were very good. The weather was very good. They had rain the previous week but for us it was shirt weather all week like a warm summers day at home. Cairo and Jerusalem were quite warm at 33 deg but the coach had air conditioning and the timew we went outside it was not too hot with the churches etc quite cool, but do not forget your suncream even though it is not blazing hot you will still get burned.

Went on this cruise as well and returned last night. A really good cruise and I agree with the ratings. Alana was well within walking distance with a small shopping area and good restuarants at the front serving drinks near Robin Hood Restuarant. Alexandria was a big disappointment a shanty town where you are bothered all the times by people trying to sell you things etc. I recommend you go on a tour there. Cario trip to pyramids etc a long day but you have to see them. At Ashod we went on a panoramic trip to Jerusalem and was very good, the advantage of this one is not walking far and still getting to go to all the important places. At Haifa stayed on ship to recover from the previous 2 days to relax. The ship is really good, crew great and always with a smile, hygiene excellant, food good and enterainment good ranging from quizes in the day to the full shows at the night. They cater for the kids too with child reps and the kids on board seemed to have a good time. All in all a great cruise and YES i would go again

I am going on this cruise on the 14th of next month. The last time i did this cruise i found to be quite a bit of walking and long days on some of the tours.Your best bet is to look at the cruise brochure when you get onboard as you are the only one that will know what you can manage. As for children, sometimes a few, sometimes lots,it dident bother me atall.Weather was fine, except Israel, where it poured.

We have just returned from the following weeks cruise and agree with most of what has been said....the excursion leaflets tell you whether the trip is 'active' 'med' or 'easy' so that will help ! Only a few children on our cruise ...no more than 10 I would have said.
