I hope someone from Thomson Cruises is reading this. This holiday, which is no longer available, ticked all the boxes! It left from Newcastle which is an easy drive from Scotland. No flying if you don’t like that. The places visited were a great choice – a mix of Baltic capitals and smaller places. The weather was fantastic and on board, a full ship of happy people. The only complaint all week was, “Why are Thomson stopping sailing from the UK?”

The Spirit was as described. The vibration didn’t bother us. The entertainment was as usual excellent and the food up to scratch. The staff, as always, were friendly and the organisation efficient. Neither did we notice too many cutbacks compared with what seems to be happening with other lines.

There were still several cruises from Newcastle that we would have liked to do. The same was true of many others on board and I am sure that also applied to the other UK ports used. I know other lines cruise from British ports but Thomson has a very loyal following and doesn’t seem to have the same volume of dissatisfaction you find on other sites. If you are reading this, Thomson, we want you back.

I have tried for months to download photos for you but failed. I have succeeded in the past so what am I doing wrong?

is the entertainment as good as ever on the spirit as it was when Stephen fry was running things
Answer by Burnett, Aberdeen (16 Mar 10 14:49) to a QUESTION by williams (04 Mar 10 16:18)
Do you mean Stephen Guy? He was in charge then and the entertainment was excellent. He never stops working. The other activities were good but not as good as the Celebration - but of course a different cruise. Bram Lorenz involved on both ships. Apologies for a late reply. Been on holiday!!

Yes, quite right. I cannot understand why the sailings from Newcastle have been stopped. Our Thomson trip around the Baltic was the best cruise we have ever had. Please put put the 'Baltic' back on

I agree!!!! We love the Baltic and Norway itineraries - and Thomson! We had the Iceland trip in mind for this year and were so disappointed when Thomson pulled out of the UK - it's lovely not having to fly and not worry about luggage allowance! I don't really want to travel with another cruise line to do these northern runs - but if there's no sign of Thomson returning to our shores I'll have no option!
