This was out first cruise with Thomson having cruised before with all the major cruise lines. We had chosen this short 5 night cruise for the itinerary, convenient dates, and a very good price.
Our flight from Luton left on time with only 47 passengers on a 225 seater plane, and the transfer and check in process at Corfu were smooth. We were assigned an outside plus cabin on deck 4 which was spacious. We had a few niggles with the cabin which were sorted out promptly.
The food, both in the buffet Cafe Royale and both the 2 formal dining rooms, was very varied with a good choice. On the formal evening most people observed the dress code, but more casual attire was also accepted.
The evening shows were good with a very talented cast of singers and dancers. The Queen tribute and the Hollywood shows were especially enjoyable. On the sea day 4 cast members put on a comedy mystery play. The resident band were also very good and hardworking. There was a good range of activities during the day. The guest comedian was very funny but slightly smutty, as was the Mr & Mrs style game show.
We do not drink, so did not use any of the bars and had not taken out a drinks package. We do not smoke so could not use the port side of deck 10 (sun deck), or deck 7 and found the starboard sides overcrowded with other non smokers. The smoking areas should be more limited.
We preferred to do our own thing in Mykonos, Rhodes and Alanya as the excursions were very expensive and all left far to early - we were on holiday after all! Both Mykonos and Rhodes were great to explore on foot but most streets were steep and over cobbles. In Alanya we walked up part of the very steep walls. We took a cruise to the caves with Mustafa, a local fisherman who charged 5 euros for a very enjoyable hour. He pointed out the shipyard museum which we visited later.
On the last day at Limassol we did not have to vacate our cabin till 9.30am but could still use all the ship's facilities. Courtesy cabins were available. We walked around Limasol for a while, then returned to the ship for lunch and our transfer to the airport. Again this went smoothly and our flight home left and returned on time.
Overall we were pleasantly surprised with Thomson Majesty and we would definitely consider another Thomson cruise that had a good itinerary at an attractive price.
