Boring Cocktail Party

Reviewed By: on
Thoroughly enjoyed the 6 night cruise . Cabin , food , drinks and entertainment were excellent , but the best by far was the friendliness of the other passengers . We met some very nice people . The worst thing was the captain's cocktail party . There was no point at all in getting us into the Broadway Lounge in order for the captain to introduce his staff . There was no opportunity to speak to other passengers and no drinks were served after the initial small glass of wine on our entry to the Broadway lounge .
There were no problems with supply of sun loungers and I believe new ones must have been bought for deck 11 . Very comfortable !
We would have welcomed open seating in Orion restaurant at dinner , but for some reason we were always shown to a table for 2 . Of course we should have said that we prefer to be sociable , but we were never given a choice in this .

A very fair and informative review. We are doing this itinerary on the Dream in 2 weeks ( 1st time on this ship) so your comments re dining were interesting as we also prefer to share with others ( see enough of the OM at home). The captains party sounds very like what we have experienced on the other Thomson ships although we were fortunate to be on the captains table last time which greatly enhanced the experience. What was the weather like?

This was the 6 night cruise from Palma to Tenerife via Gibraltar, Casablanca, Agadir and Arrecife - the weather was very good with two days sunny all day - casablanca and Santa Cruz the others having more of a mix of sun and cloud. Seas were calm. Cocktail Party agree with review - it was not exceptional .... and there were no cocktails either ! Disagree about sunbeds - but only when the ship was at sea and on the early departure from Casablanca at 2pm. Sunbeds were the same as those in 2011. Would be interested to learn when you return whether the Lido and Sirens are back on self service or not as they changed on the last night of this cruise (Thurs 4th ) due to alleged norovirus - these rumours supported by the sign of crew walking around with large backpack sprayers dousing the stairs and handrails at least at Stairs A if not elsewhere too and all staff in self service wearing disposable gloves whether serving at the buffet or not.
