Canaries with Thomson Destiny

Reviewed By: on
Lovely friendly service on board. Cabin was small but clean, well decorated and adequate. Main waiter service restaurant was very good but had fixed sittings and fixed tables. The alternative was the freezing cold buffet at the stern of the ship - so cold in the evening that people had to wrap up in the provided blankets and with minimum waiter assistance. So don't choose this ship if you prefer buffet dining! The itinerary was great, with the ability to start the cruise at 3 different locations. Unfortunately this hadn't been taken into account with the excursion planning. So in Tenerife there was only a choice of 2 excursions - both 1/2 day and one of them a zoo, even though we were in port from very early until late evening. Also although our flights from Gran Canaria were not until late afternoon, we could not join a trip because none of them started until 12 noon. Presumably this was because the cruise was originally intended to start in Tenerife only and the trips planned accordingly. The entertainment was fun - the male singers were very good, but the female singers not quite as good. The afternoon play on the day at sea was enjoyable. On the whole we had a great time and it was a lovely introduction to the Canaries, Madeira and Morocco.

I think it is made clear that Destiny has fixed sittings and fixed tables at dinner. Once again, a case of people not doing their homework and then complaining!
