WE HAVE BEEN ON THE DESTINY TWICE ONCE AS A 24 YEAR OLD COUPLE AND ONCE WITH A 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THE DESTINY IS A NICE CALM BOAT IT IS VERY RELAXING NICE BARS AND RESTRAUNTS WITH GREAT SERVICE. THE FIRST TIME WE WENT IT WAS GREAT EXCURSIONS GOOD, FOOD TOP QUALITY ,SERVICE EXCELLENT, ROOMS WHERE ALSO GOOD WITH GREAT MAID SERVICE THE SECOND TIME IT FELT DIFFRENT GETTING DRINKS TOOK LONGER THE BOAT LOOKED WORN IN PLACES AND NOT ALOT TO DO AS A FAMILY BUT STAFF WHERE REALLY NICE STILL AND ROOM CLEANER GREAT RECEPTION STAFF WHERE WONDERFUL AND COULDNT KEEP THERE HANDS OFF OUR DAUGHTER.I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE MORE ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILYS ALSO I THINK CHILDREN SHOULD BE FREE TO TRAVEL LIKE RCI AND MSC. WE WOULD NOT GO AGAIN UNLESS THE BOAT WAS UPGRADED.

I agree children should be free to travel, however eating and having somewhere to sleep should be charged,.

there are many cruises out there you dont pay for children and are better quality

You're 26-35. I did the "grand Tour" of Europe as a student back-packer, and re-visited Cannes etc. several years later with my wife and child. First experiences cannot be repeated. Nothing's the same second time around. 26-35 is very young. I hope your honeymoon was ... as you wanted it to be.

If you thought children should be free then why did you choose to pay and then come on here and complain about it ?

well been on independence of the seas and children are free and it has a lot better facilitys if you like second class cruises then stick with them

Hello Berry, if the Independence of the Seas was that good, why did you book to go on this second class ship??????????? TWICE!!, and I agree with NORTH you knew you were paying for your child when you booked so why complain now. I've also been on bigger and newer ships, but will always go back to THOMSON, simply because the service, staff and entertainment are second to none. None of this 15% extra gratuities for cabin cleaners and bar service etc, what a rip off. What really baffles me though is your review on the DESTINY is quite positive, then you suddenly say that it is a second class ship!!!!!!, whats that all about?

i went on this ship again as it was a wedding present also why pay so much when a child has nothing to do pool to small no play area to young for arcadesi agree staff and food where nice but there is better ships out there or norwegien or even msc and p&o these all cater for children and you only pay taxes maybe the ship is designed for older people who need to just sit and relax all day.

Point taken that the second time on the ship was a gift, but with regards to the lack of childrens activities, did you not use the kiddies club?, there are also two pools, one specifically for children, which is more than an adequate size for young kids. With reference to NCL, MSC & P&O I agree they are fantastic modern liners with all mod cons, but people need to remember is that THOMSON are not a cruise company and they don't claim to be, Butlins at sea is often quoted, which to some extent that is correct, family fun, good entertainment and in my opinion good value for money, with NO HIDDEN COSTS.
