Just got back from the Baltics, with Thomsom cruise ship The Celebrity. We had a very spacious outside cabin, Excursion were as usual expensive, but on this cruise you had to do some of them e.g. Russia. the food was first class, and the atmosphere very relaxed. For once we only used the 'Waiter' service restaurant a few times, but preffered the Lido. Food Ex.
We had a rainy day in Estonia, but the beauty of the place made us forget the rain. That is an easy place to get to. You can walk in about 20 minutes, or take a taxi. Very pretty place.
We did the Berlin trip, which was very long and very tiring. but well worth it, another sunny day!! We had a marvelous meal included and a great tour guide.
Stockholm was very expensive. We did our own thing after having a shuttle into the town. We visited the Vasa Museum. This was an incredible experience, a must if you are going to Stockholm. When we got back to the ship we noticed an offer of a boat costing 10 K. (£10) each that you could get off and on at your own pleasure. We could have visited the museum and a lot more sites, including the palace if we had taken this offer. . Of course we did not know about this before we left the ship, so we purchased shuttle tickets. It cost £8. for addmission to the 'Vasa' but as I said it was well worth the visit. I would look this one up on Google, it gives you the whole story on the Vasa Galleon..... It cost us £6 in bus fares to get back to the shuttle having walked to the museum which was a tidy way. As I have said the boat trip on offer will be a must if we ever visit again. Check this out before buying shuttle tickets.
In Russia we had a sunny day- ' sunning ourselves on deck !!'... we did the Cossack song and dance night, this was incredible. They were selling the nesting dolls and other gifts. These were excellent quality. and cheaper than on the ship, the ship dolls seemed to be 'seconds' - also you cannot buy them on the ship, until a few days after you have left Russia. That way if you have waited thinking that they will be cheaper on board, then you will be dissappointed. The difference in quality is amazing. I paid 4 euros each for the dolls on the night , they were £5 for the same size on the ship, and as I said the quality was dreadfull.
Finland was good but vey expensive, We had a great welcome at the port off 'Santa' .
We did Aaurus Denmark, on our own, nice place, they have a Guestapo war museum. which is quite interesting.
The last port of call was Kalenbourg in Denmark. This was very nice. A very quiet place and some parts were extremely old. Quite cheap here. Nice toy shop for gifts for the grandchildren !! Extremely cheap.. they also had a £1 shop !!!
All in all- the food and the friendliness of the ship was very very good. I would certainly go with this one again. There is nothing that I can say I was dissapointed in. I have been on 12 cruises and this is by far one of the nicest.
