Thomsons again best value

Reviewed By: on

Went on Celebration in November, highlight Jerusalem and Bethlehem, very very interesting and as with all Thomson trips well organised. 2nd time on Celebration. 5th Thomson cruise - we have been on P and O, Holland America and Ocean Village - for shear all round value Thomsons comes out tops if you like using all the various venues in a ship. I even managed the gym again once!( say going to go more and dont) Great massage. Show lounges much better than a theatre type set up. 6 course meal in Meridian excellent. Well done Raymund and Oliver only 6 courses again!! Lido good buffet. Liked the free ice creams and cones etc, nice touch. Pool buffet good. Staff the best yet on any cruise, incredibly nice people. The show team people are without doubt the best on the high seas for all round entertainment and this has been the case on Destiny. Spirit and Emerald. The TOP MEN band are possibly the best band I have ever seen, the range of music is staggering and you would pay good money at any venue to hear them sing and play. Remember the name, if they are on land go see them!!!!! The other duo, cant remember the name are in the same bracket --- we were very lucky to have so much quality. I have payed out good money at Wembley Arena and Stadium over the years but believe me the entertaiment was on the money.
Okay Ive banged on a bit - but I get somewhat hacked off by cruising snobs who turn there collective noses up at the mention of Thomsons -- without giving them a try! Value value value. No not an employee and I already have a guide, I thank you ------Bill

Do not consider this cruise unless you are very fit, as you will be told not to go on the Jerusalem and Bethlehem trip and will be expected to take a very second rate tour called Panoramic Jerusalem. This will give you very poor options for the second day in Jerusalem. If you go on the Tel Aviv tour you may well not get the published itinarary and Thomsons do not want to know about it afterwards.

Just wondering, is the Jerusalem and Bethlehem cruise the best then. What did you do for currency in each port.

I am glad you enjoyed your cruise. I am booked on the Celebration next year and after reading some reviews was wondering if I had made the right choice. After reading your review I feel much happier and will now look forward to it.

Hi, my husband and myself have never been on a Thomsons Cruise, but after reading your review I think we might give it a try. We have cruised with Air Tours (many years ago) we were on the Seawing and the Caroussel Ships but sadly Air Tours no longer do cruises. The last cruise we were on was P&O Ventura and we didn't enjoy it at all. Just too many people on board. We have also cruised with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, like yourself I am not a cruise snob and I think Thomsons sounds very much like Air Tours ships used to be. Especially when you say the staff are so friendly and helpful. Thank you for your review it has been very helpful.

Hi folks. I think you will appreciate a Thomson cruise if you have been on Seawing and Carousel. The on-board culture is similar. The ships are all old and a bit worn but the staff are brilliant. We too have been on some big American ships, but keep coming back to Thomson. Doing Scandinavia on the Spirit from North Shields and Greek Isles on Destiny (which we affectionately call Dysentery) in 2012.

thanks for letting me know, I've been saying that to husband about Thomson Cruises, I've spoken to a few people and it does sound similar to Air Tours. Thanks again for the tip..
