Just got back from thomson red sea magic on the celebration the check in at the airport went very smoothly no queues and flight was on time so of to a fine start at sharm the luggage took quite a wee while to come out hubbys case was missing one wheel , but then it was onto the coach , not too bad at the ship to embark we had an outside cabin with a porthole on deck three it was fine although I do prefer a window as it gives more light the ship itself is pretty dated but I think that everyone knows this when they book with thomsons but the seem to have the concept right it took three days to meet our cabin steward which I thought was kind of strange , there are two pools which are quite deep and a kiddies pool which was not used that much as they seemed to be always busy with the kids club so no trouble from them , you could also smoke down one side off the pool area on deck five and thats where they did the afternoons quiz and music and the grill is always on the go or you just have to pop inside to the lido restaurant ,the food was varied and good although I was disappointed with their sweets but the afternoon scones were yummy , there is a constant juddering of the ship even when in port some times it felt really bad ,I went to an arabic class which was fun and it gave you basic words which helped when out and about , the ports as you are probably aware are container bases , we did not get to Petra which was a big letdown but they closed the roads due to fog and snow in the hills so that 21 buses had to return to the ship after about 20 /30 mins , we did the pyramids and the museum another early start (dont forget they are long days) the museum was not busy so we did our on thing and just met the guide outside at the givin time ,and then to the hotel for lunch which was very nice , take pound coins if you want to buy at the pyramids as all you will hear is 1 english pound coin you will be inundated there with sellers although when we said no thanks they did go away then it was onto the shopping where it is only the 2 shops you go to there are lots of children there so a few of us gave them the packed lunch we had from the ship the were delighted poor things , the traffic in cairo is horrendous and we had a police escourt just to get you through so it was back to the ship to be welcomed with the staff giving out hot towels and the band playing nice touch ,we had to disembark by tenders on the final day must have been hard for the staff with all that luggage and the new lot arriving ,all in all a very good cruise

Can you confirm that vendors will take ENGLISH POUND COINS We are doing a cruise around this destination, and are totally confused as to what currency to take (normally they only accept PAPER MONEY) Paper money would mean I would rule out Euros and use American Dollars ie one American dollar 50p , 5 Euro five pounds, IF they would take English Pound coins would be a relief! We are doing UAE, YEMEN, EGYPT, and concerned at what currency to take ie we do not want to take £20 of UAE dirhams buy a £2 coffee and get £18 of usless coins back as with the other currencies Regards Jimbo

They will take anything , but you will hear them shout for pound coins

This comment really applies to Egypt and the Red Sea areas rather than Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea - Even though they do not like £ coins they/street sellers will take them but you may be approached by some with a handful of them saying can you swap 10 x £1 coins for a tenner. You may find that you can barter items they say £1 for for 1 dollar though if you want to.

If this is an effort at the longest ever sentence, it's probaly won, but it is very difficult to read without full stops. Glad you had a good cruise though!

Amazing! Commas' are for a breath, didn't you know. Why do people have to make pointless comments anyway. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

What is amazing is the lack of proper English on this site. In just two lines you have misused an apostrophe and failed to use two question marks. It does not matter one iota of course because I can read and understand you. I just find very long pieces without full stops difficult to read; sorry if you find that amazing.
