Island Escape 19th February – 26th February 2010
After reading all the negative reviews I was really put off booking the Island Escape.
However I decided to book with Thomson’s as they are a reputable company and we thought they cannot really be that bad. The ship holds 1500 passengers and there is always one who wants something for nothing. You are paying and getting a cheap and cheerful cruise and I for one would definitely book this ship again or should I say a converted ferry. So in a nutshell, below is our rating:
Staff 5*
Food 5*
Cleanliness 5*
Cabin 3.5*
Entertainment 4*
Bars and Public areas 4*
We unfortunately had to miss Funchal Madeira due to the devastation caused by the weather. However the weather on our holiday was really superb.

Being at the very front of the ship a little bit bouncy and noisey when docking.

The dress code is very relaxed. No tuxedo's and very few suits. Smart casual clothes or jeans are readily worn. This is a no frills ship but clean and tidy........although could do with a re-fit.

Glad you had such a good cruise on the Island Escape and that you were pleased with your holiday. The main thing is that you get what you pay for. Can you tell me if you went else where when you couldn;t get in to Funchal? Thanks.

We were redirected back to Gran Canaria as passengers who were due to embark at Funchal were flown in to meet us there. I belive other trips were arranged.
