I took a last minute standby option on spirit of adventure two weeks ago and I have just returned. The ship is the most friendly ship I have cruised on in 15 years of cruising. The system of no fixed dining tables means you can meet many different people which is a benefit when travelling alone. The food was upto 5 star hotel standards and the staff could not do enough for you, even though there is a policy of no tipping on board. My cabin was large and very comfortable with tv and dvd player, and was kept scrupulously clean. There is a very extensive library and a series of trips included in the price.

My wife and I were on the same cruise as your Sheffiel reviewer who certainly recognised the really friendly and deicated atmosphere on the ship which we think begins with the captain and is so important. We are always amazed when we go aboard at the beginning of a cruise and at least half a dozen crew members remember us. We have had four very enjoyable cruises on the Spirit and another booked for next year but this recent one was the best yet despite the fact that our inside cabin was tiny. It was, however, adequate and kept spotlessly clean and well serviced by Victor the cabin steward. The single lift is seriously in need of updating. At least it works. We have sailed on seven other ships, some several times but we both agree the Spirit is our favourite
